La Porte des Mondes
Immersive travelling dining experiences and real landscapes projected in HD
La Porte des Mondes organises immersive dining experiences combining spectacular audiovisual scenery and gastronomy in harmony with the panorama. Guests can enjoy full immersion at the heart of interactive settings that adapt to each place and each moment, creating a feeling that turns a simple meal into an unforgettable journey. La Porte des Mondes is an audiovisual production company capturing real panoramic videos in 16K. It offers a mobile video-mapping station and a turnkey installation, combined with tailored scenography and sequencing. The animated background is projected onto indoor screens or walls 24 to 32 metres wide and 2.5 metres high, transporting the audience into captivating visual worlds.
The Challenge
With mobility a key element of the immersive dining concept, equipment flexibility is essential.
Technology must be implemented in any type of indoor venue, with or without a performance, for an audience ranging from 60 people – for example, as in the Centre Immersif du Domaine de Châtillon, on the outskirts of Angers - to 600, or even 1,000 people in a Congress Centre. It is therefore critical that the projectors can adapt to various venue sizes and to the 144:10 projection format of the videos in 16k. They must also combine portability and ease of installation with a price-performance ratio compatible with la Porte des Mondes’ business model.
The Solution
In the Sharp offering, la Porte des Mondes opted for a set of 6 LCDbased laser projectors – 4 NEC PV710UL and 2 Sharp V731U
The selected models are compatible with a wide choice of interchangeable lenses and, with the NP41ZL, can offer a throw ratio ranging from 1,30 to 3,02 :1, the widest in the market. This is a decisive factor for mobility and ease of implementation, regardless of the room size. Their compactness, weight and low noise level, as well as maintenance free operation and price-performance ratio make them the ideal solution to match the project’s requirements. A brightness level of 7,100 lumens for the PV710UL and 7,300 lumens for the V731U, combined with a high contrast ratio, are two additional assets that help the projectors adapt to the diversity of the venues and the variety of landscapes projected during the immersive dining experiences.
The PV710UL, just like the V731U, is a projector combining enough flexibility and affordability to operate in a mobile system while meeting our business model.
The Result
The six projectors were first deployed during immersive dining experiences organised at the Domaine de Châtillon, La Porte Des Mondes’ preferred partner. « Thanks to high-resolution projection in a panoramic format, we can redecorate the wall and recreate a terrace with an evolving landscape, » Guylain de Mirandol explains. It creates a sense of complete immersion and travel, whether the event is focused on elegance, celebration, culture or escape.
