Creating a technology-enabled headquarters for collaboration and connection
With a history stretching back more than 200 years, Travers Smith is one of the City of London’s longest-established law firms. Its heritage is matched by a forward-thinking outlook, with collaboration and its people at the heart of the firm. When Travers Smith relocated from two London offices to its new headquarters at Stonecutter Court, it was an opportunity to create a modern, connected workplace that supports the way people work, meet and collaborate, while delivering an exceptional experience for employees, clients and visitors.
The Challenge.
The move represented a significant transformation for Travers Smith. The new headquarters needed to support a wide range of activities, from everyday collaboration and client meetings to firmwide communications, hybrid working and high-profile events.
With a fixed move date and technology central to daily operations, there was little margin for disruption. Every meeting room, collaboration space and event environment needed to be ready to perform from the moment employees arrived.
The Solution.
Sharp’s global partner Kinly led the technology delivery, working alongside Overbury to create more than 60 technology-enabled spaces across nine floors. These included meeting rooms, boardrooms, training suites, informal collaboration areas, a recording studio and a flagship auditorium.
As visual technology partner, Sharp provided display expertise across the workplace, helping the project team select solutions suited to the different environments and applications.
A key feature of the project is the flagship 8K LED installation in The View, the centrepiece of the auditorium. The 1.2mm pixel-pitch LED display comprises 128 modules in a 16 × 8 configuration, measuring approximately 9.6m wide by 2.7m high. It provides a high-impact visual platform for presentations, communications and events, creating a focal point for the space.
Sharp supplied fine-pitch LED and MultiSync® display solutions supporting video conferencing and hybrid working, while maintaining the clean, contemporary aesthetic of the new headquarters. Designed to integrate naturally into the interiors, the displays are used across meeting rooms, collaboration areas, digital signage and everyday workplace communications, creating a consistent visual experience throughout the building.
The scope of our project spanning our flagship 8K Canvas installation in The View, around 80 digital signage displays and screens across 46 meeting rooms required a manufacturer partner who could provide solid guidance and flex when needed.
Working as one team
Sharp worked closely with Kinly, Overbury and Travers Smith throughout the project, providing specialist display expertise as requirements evolved. For a project of this scale, close coordination and the ability to respond to changing requirements were particularly important. James Mead reflects on the experience of working with Sharp:
“Sharp has been a great partner throughout our workplace transformation at Travers Smith. From the early stages of the selection process right through to delivery, they brought real expertise and a collaborative approach that made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. The team were always responsive and on hand when delivery nuances arose, and you always felt they had a genuine interest in getting it right.”
The Result.
Travers Smith’s new headquarters opened fully operational, with the technology in place to support collaboration, communication, client engagement and events from day one. The new space has become a destination workplace for the firm, with Sharp’s visual technology supporting activity throughout the building, from the flagship 8K LED installation to fine-pitch LED and MultiSync® displays used across meeting and collaboration spaces and for digital signage throughout the building.
David Cassidy, Director of Technology at Travers Smith, highlights the importance of the wider partnership:
“AV is a tier-one service for our business and Kinly understood that from day one. Working with Kinly, Overbury and Sharp, we have created sophisticated yet intuitive spaces where the technology simply works. Sharp’s visual expertise and collaborative approach were an important part of delivering the display environment, and the new space has been exceptionally well received by both our people and our clients.”
